Dat Bui is a tax advisor with extensive experience in delivering strategic and technically sound tax advisory services, with a particular focus on restructuring and tax controversy. His professional background includes roles at leading professional services firms, including one of the Big Four.

Dat has advised a wide range of foreign-invested enterprises and multinational corporations on complex tax issues, including the tax implications of M&A transactions, internal restructuring, business model transformation, and compliance with Vietnam’s customs and tax regulations. His advice is grounded in both Vietnamese regulatory requirements and international tax principles, ensuring clients receive technically sound and commercially practical solutions.

  • Assisting a Singaporean furniture manufacturer in overturning a US$2 million tax penalty concerning the use of allegedly non-compliant invoices.
  • Defending a German home appliance company in a US$10 million tax dispute over tax incentive eligibility, leading to successful litigation against local tax authorities.
  • Advising leading multinational corporations in the manufacturing, IT, services, and airline sectors on Double Taxation Agreement (DTA) applications, enabling seamless international employee assignments to Vietnam.
  • Supporting a global leader in electrolysis plant technology in restructuring its Vietnam operations, including analysis of tripartite agreements, labor mobility, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assisting one of the world’s largest suppliers of computer network switches in a business model restructuring to achieve full compliance with Vietnam’s tax and customs framework.
